Who is Alexandra Friend?
My name is Alexandra Friend, and I have been passionate about the world of fashion for as long as I can remember. Growing up, being a designer was all I ever wanted to do, and I have been taking steps toward this dream of mine as early as I possibly could. My grandmother taught me to hand-sew when I was very young, and even then, I would draw up different designs and attempt to bring them to life. I eventually acquired my very own sewing machine and began developing my skills as much as I could on my own.
When it came time for high school, I decided to attend a technical school to start pursuing fashion more seriously. I attended Atlantic County Institute of Technology for four years and graduated with my diploma and over one thousand hours of design experience under my belt. I then attended Rowan College of Burlington County and completed their Fashion Design Certificate program in order to better hone my skills and learn more about the industry.
I truly believe that fashion is for everyone and have always been a major advocate for others to dress however they want no matter what they look like, where they come from, how old they are, etc. What you wear is a form of self-expression and an extension of your personality. Wearing something for you and your own personal happiness is an important experience of life that I believe not a single person should miss out on. My goal as a designer is to inspire as many people as I possibly can to view themselves in a whole new light and to gain the confidence to express themselves freely when they get dressed every morning.
